Insect Arenas for Neurological Research

Mettrix Technology Corp. had the unique opportunity to design and build an 8x8 visual field arena that was used in insect neurological research. The company entrusted Mettrix Technology Corp. with this delicate field of research and turned to our experts to create an electronic display system that contained a Panel Display Controller (PDC). We developed electronics that were used to tag birds for the purpose of gathering data during migration. The project -- which was completed in partnership with Cornell University -- required a study in weight reduction of the electronics to ensure that the bird would not be affected by the extra weight. Mettrix Technology Corp. took a design that was difficult to assemble in quantity and created a prototype and design that could be manufactured in quantity. This product has since been provided to research labs all over the world who are involved in insect neurological research.
